Majority Chief Whip and MP for Nsawam Adoagyiri Frank Annoh-Dompreh says it is time for Ghana to honour Asamoah Gyan the way he deserved after the Black Stars' top score hanged his boots.
Members of Parliament took turns last week to honour the former Sunderland marksman.
Asamoah Gyan made 109 appearances for the Black Stars on the international stage scoring 51 goals.
He played at three World Cup editions and retired as Africa’s top scorer on the world stage.
Asamoah Gyan paid a courtesy call on the Majority Chief Whip who read the statement on the floor last week to express his gratitude for the honours done him.
Frank Annoh-Dompreh said Asamoah Gyan has done so much for Ghana, it is time for the country to pay him back.
"This is somebody who has given his all to the nation. I feel like we can do more. Whatever we do for him; we set the tone for the future. We go to other jurisdictions and their heroes are studied in schools, and model courses are studied along their character.
"If you go to England, the way they celebrate David Beckham, you'd be amazed. We must celebrate not just the personality of Asamoah Gyan but his traits. He may have hanged his boots, but he can still impact generations", he stressed.
Asamoah Gyan also used the opportunity to visit the Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin.
