The abuser in the Adisadel College assault case has been granted bail by the Cape Coast District Court 2.
He is expected to reappear on Wednesday, August 2.
The adjournment was due the court’s inability to have the required number of persons to sit as jury over the juvenile case, following which His worship Eric Oheneba Antwi Boasiako granted the bail.
He was arrested on Wednesday after the incident went viral on social media.
Following his arrest, he was initially cautioned for assault and causing harm, and subsequently released to the headmaster of Adisadel College to be produced in court today.
He was captured in a viral video choking his junior colleague during a disagreement over a SIM card and subsequently hit his colleague’s head against a metallic bed in the dormitory.
Meanwhile, the victim who was suspended initially has been recalled following the public uproar over his suspension.
A section of the public was of the view that it was not fair for him to be punished after going through such an ordeal and rather needed care.
He is currently undergoing medical treatment, and the school has assigned a psychologist to provide him with the necessary support and counselling to help him through the trauma he experienced.
The incident has generated widespread concern and outrage among parents, students, parliamentarians and the general public.
