Over the years, activities of Ghana’s biggest street art festival on social media, aside from the official page of the organisers, have been without authorisation.
Some of these social media posts drive controversy, changing people’s perception about the festival.
This year, the organisers have officially partnered with Multimedia Group Limited ahead of the 13th edition of the festival, making them the first media outlet to formally partner with the event after twelve years of existence.
As a result, the organisers of the event are confident that the partnership will help legitimise every activity of the festival.

According to Anny Osabutey, a representative of the Chalewote Street Art festival team, at the signing of the agreement with Multimedia Group, "We’re very excited about this collaboration. Chalewote Street Art Festival has come a very long way, and to have a reputable media house like this, support, get involved, and try to not only market what we do but also be a testament to the fact that this is arguably one of the biggest art festivals in the sub-region and also in Africa.
"We believe that this partnership is going to give us that particular platform to put Ghana further on the map and also to ensure that we legitimise what we do at Chalewote Street Art Festival," he added.
Mr. Osabutey, on behalf of his team, promised to provide the necessary support to the Multimedia Group in every activity of the event.
The General Manager of Joy Brands, Fiifi Koomson, also assured the team of using their media techniques to fully support the festival before, during, and after, for the betterment of the event and the ultimate purpose of projecting Ghana internationally.

"This is an opportunity for Multimedia and the team from Chalewote Street Art Festival to showcase our music, dance, and art in general. I think that this is an opportunity for an artistic self-expression, showcasing our tradition the best way we can, and at Multimedia Group, we are very excited about this, knowing that we’re able to even promote this event, and I believe it’s not just going to be an event but a series of them," Mr. Koomson assured.
Representatives of the organisers, Accra [dot] Alt, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the media conglomerate to push the unique Ghanaian culture and heritage through art, music, and dance, just to mention a few.
However, the 13th edition of Chalewote Street Art Festival has been relocated to Osu Accra. It will kick off from Monday, August 21, to Sunday, August 27 with an opening durbar and procession on the 21st at 3 p.m.
Major exhibition grounds include the Independence Square, Osu Castle, and Accra Sports Stadium, whereas navigation will take place on the streets of the Osu community, Oxford Street, the Osu cemetery traffic light, the Independence Square, and its environs.
