The head coach of the senior men’s national team, Chris Hughton, has expressed his excitement about the performance of the home-based players in the team.
Medeama duo of Jonathan Sowah and Fatawu Hamidu made their Black Stars debuts in the 3-1 win over Liberia in an international friendly on Tuesday.
Hamidu got a late call-up to replace injured Baba Rahman and Gideon Mensah at the left-back position.
The two were impressive in the game, with striker Sowah playing a crucial role in Ghana scoring the third goal of the game.
Speaking after the game, Hughton was full of praise for the Medeama boys. He said: “When it comes to whatever squad, l have to pick 24 to 25-man squad.
“And looking at what we have now, l can say that it's the best team to get the results that we need to get. Sometimes injuries can give us an opportunity go invite local players.
“So, l think with Fatawu and Jonathan coming in the last minute has giving the team good lift. And this opportunity has given them a great encouragement for more of our local players to exploit.”
