The National Youth Authority (NYA) has expressed its sympathies to young people in various parts of the country who have been affected by the floods caused by the Akosombo Dam spillage.
In a statement signed by Chief Executive Pius Hazide, the Authority acknowledged that the sudden disruption of the source of their livelihood would be challenging for them.
“The youth are the backbone of our nation, and their well-being and aspirations are of the utmost importance to us. In this regard, NYA is committed to assisting in the recovery and rebuilding undertakings of these young individuals,” portions of the statement read.
According to the NYA, logistics and other resources are being mobilized to provide the needed support to victims including those in the Shai Osudoku, North Tongu, Central Tongu, South Tongu, Asuogyaman and Ada East districts.
“Volunteers under the National Youth Volunteers Programme (NYVP), which was recently launched by H.E the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, will also be deployed to assist in some critical areas.
“We encourage all individual, organisations, and the broader community to join hands in the effort to ensure that the youth affected by this adversity are equipped with the requisites for re-building their homes and businesses.”
