Ghana attacking midfielder, Mohammed Kudus, has praised his Moroccan West Ham teammate, Nayef Aguerd, for assisting him to score against Arsenal on Wednesday in the Carabao Cup.
The 23-year-old said the pass was so good he didn't have to put in much effort before slotting it in to double the lead for the Hammers at the London Stadium.
The win means West Ham dispatched the Gunners 3-1 to reach the quarter-final and will face Liverpool at Anfield.
Speaking after the game, Kudus explained the technique in used in executing the goal against a side he was linked with in the summer.
“The pass was so good that I didn’t have to do much because it almost ended up being in the box, so I had to just take my touch inside and shoot, so thanks to Nayef for that wonderful pass," he told West Ham TV.
“As forward players, you want to get the ball in the net and you also want to entertain the fans, so that’s what I’m here to do. Thanks to the fans for their support. It’s been amazing, and even when it’s not going well, they are still pushing and giving us energy."
David Moyes’ side took the lead 16 minutes into the game when Ben White turned the ball into his net following a corner kick.
Mohammed Kudus then made a very lovely first touch to bring down a lobbed pass from Nayef Aguerd before firing into the left bottom corner of the net in the 50th minute.
Jarrod Bowen then sealed the win with a brilliant goal from distance at the hour mark before Martin Odegaard got Arsenal a consolation in stoppage time.
