Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, George Mireku Duuker, has announced an inquiry into the shooting incident that resulted in the death of two miners in Mfante, Ashanti Region.
The Minister assured that those responsible will be held accountable.
This was after a November 10 shooting incident that also resulted in injuries to four others.
Speaking at the commission of a Community Mining Scheme in the Bosomifre district, he says “the establishment of a committee to probe the issue, expressing confidence in their ongoing effort in the field.’
“They’re actively working on it and into to release a report detailing their investigation findings, if anyone is found guilty upon review, they will face consequences, as nobody is exempt from the law,” he explained.
Mr Duker emphasized that both the family of the deceased and the community members in Pokukurom have demanded that justice be served.
