The Director of Communications at the presidency, Eugene Kofi Bentum Arhin, has won the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary primaries in the Awutu Senya West constituency.
It was a two-horse race between Mr. Arhin and businessman, Amos Kofi Opei Okai.
Eugene Arhin polled 862 votes, while his main contender, Mr. Opei Okai, trailed behind with 119 votes.
Speaking to JoyNews after his victory, the Director of Communications was optimistic that NPP will win back the Awutu Senya parliamentary seat.
"It was unfortunate that we lost the parliamentary seat in 2020 but i believe strongly that with this strong record and if we do our things well as a party and bring the base on board towards wrestling the seat from the NDC candidate, i believe it is something that is very doable," he said.
Mr Arhin is now set to face off with the incumbent Member of Parliament, Gazelle Tetteh who is with the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2024 general elections.
