Vice President, Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, has stressed on the need for countries within the Africa sub-region to push for a robust intra-Africa trade activities.
This, he believes, will attract more Foreign Direct Investments into the continent.
According to him the government's policies to restore economic growth are yielding results, hence presenting an opportunity for exporters and importers to take advantage of the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA).
Speaking at the 20th edition of the Ghana Club 100 Awards organised by the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre, he said Ghana’s economy is heading towards the right direction despite the economic challenges.
"Ghana's economy is in line for accelerated growth with our post-COVID programme for economic growth. The economic indicators are pointing in the right direction. We are advancing in technology. The AfCFTA should be seen as a catalyst for economic expansion across all countries within the continent", he said.
Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Investment Promotion Center, Yofi Grant, said the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) pact provides a golden opportunity for Ghanaian businesses to expand to other African countries.
“For us at GIPC, our work is to complement government efforts by instituting various measures to bolster Ghana’s private sector’s competitiveness on the African continent.”
According to him, the 20th edition of the Ghana Club 100 awards is to celebrate decades of resilience, innovation and excellence showcased by Ghanaian businesses.
The top 100 firms that were recognised came from strategic sectors including agriculture and agribusiness, financial services, ICT, infrastructure, petroleum, mining services, manufacturing, tourism, health, and education.
Newmont’s Ahafo Akyem Mine was the best company in Ghana according to the Ghana Club 100 in 2023.
