The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has expressed his optimism about the party's ability to capture political power in the 2024 general election.
According to him, in 2023, the party has made significant progress in ensuring that the upcoming general election brings their dream of breaking the eight to a reality.
Speaking at the party’s Thanksgiving Service at the party headquarters, he said “ After turning the corner, we are set to move with full speed towards greater recovery in 2024.”
The Vice President noted that the party had already elected parliamentary candidates for its orphan constituency adding that in January it would elect representatives for constituencies with incumbent Members of Parliament.
On the back of this, he assured the party of his commitment to ensuring that the election process is free, fair, and transparent so that all candidates accept the outcome of the elections.
Meanwhile, Dr Bawumia added that this can only be accomplished if the party is united.
“The successes we have achieved so far have been the results of teamwork, hard work, and unity. These are values we must consider to continue to build. Indeed it is only in unity of purpose that we can achieve our goal of winning the general election next year.
"I am confident that with hard work, unity, and full commitment it will be possible to break the eight and to continue to solve the problem we face as a nation," he said.
