After securing a substantial majority with 169 seats in the 2016 presidential and parliamentary elections, the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) faced a significant setback in 2020.
The party experienced a notable decline, losing 32 seats and reducing their Members of Parliament (MPs) to 137. In this electoral shift, the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) gained the majority of the lost seats, bringing their total to 137. The NPP regained the parliamentary majority when an independent candidate decided to align with the party in parliament.
On January 27, 2024, the NPP will once again be in the primary battlegrounds to select candidates who will contest on the party's ticket, to restore a significant majority in the 2024 general elections.
Here are key battlegrounds to pay attention to.
1.DOME KWABENYA CONSTITUENCY

2. ASANTE AKIM CENTRAL CONSTITUENCY

3. BANTAMA CONSTITUENCY

4. TANO NORTH CONSTITUENCY

5. OLD TAFO CONSTITUENCY

6. ADANSE ASOKWA CONSTITUENCY
