World champions Argentina have decided against playing the Black Stars in an international friendly, opting to play Nigeria instead.
Earlier reports indicated that Argentina had reached an agreement in principle with the Ghana Football Association, to play the Black Stars in an international friendly in March.
The friendly with the four-time African champions was to be played in China, on March 26, 2024.
However, Argentina have now moved to engage the AFCON 2023 quarter-finalists Nigeria and Côte d’Ivoire.
Nigeria qualified for the quarter-final stage with a 2-0 win over Cameroun, while Côte progressed after eliminating defending champions Senegal, 5-4 on penalties.
Argentina have won three out of five meetings with Nigeria, while the Super Eagles have won the other matches.
The World Champions have also won both meetings with Ivory Coast.
