Barikisu Losina, the recently ousted District Chief Executive (DCE) of Sawla-Tuna-Kalba district, was reportedly involved in a car accident near Guripe on the Sawla-Damongo Road on Saturday morning.
The incident occurred just 24 hours after President Akufo-Addo dismissed her from office, along with 23 other Municipal and District Chief Executives, without specifying the reasons for their removal.
According to initial reports, the former DCE was en route to Tamale accompanied by her child and a driver from the assembly when the accident happened.
Currently, Barikisu Losina and the other passengers are receiving medical treatment at St. Anne’s Hospital in Damongo.
The abrupt dismissal of Barikisu Losina and the other executives was announced in a statement signed by President Akufo-Addo in a statement dated February 2, 2024.
The President justified his decision, citing Article 243 (3) b of the Constitution and Section 20 (3) (b) of the Local Government Act, 2014, (Act 936).
Coincidentally, on February 3, 2024, President Akufo-Addo nominated 26 new Municipal and District Chief Executive Officers to fill the vacancies left by the ousted officials.
