The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has opened nomination for its parliamentary primary in the Sunyani East constituency in the Bono Region.
The nomination, which opens on Wednesday, February 14, will officially close on Saturday, February 17.
In a statement signed by NPP General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, the party said aspiring parliamentary candidates are expected to purchase a non-refundable nomination form at GH₵3,000.
“An Aspiring Parliamentary Candidate shall procure Nomination Forms after the payment of a non-refundable application fee of GH₵ 3,000.00 in Banker's Draft in favour of the New Patriotic Party National Headquarters, Accra.
“To successfully file the nomination, an aspiring parliamentary candidate shall pay a non-refundable filing fee of thirty-five thousand Ghana cedis (GH₵35, 000.00) in Banker's Draft in favour of the New Patriotic Party National Headquarters, Accra,” the release added.
Additionally, women, youth, and persons with disability will have a 50 per cent rebate on their filing fees.
Also, the statement said all aspirants except the incumbent Member of Parliament will be expected to pay an amount of GH₵40,000 as party development fees.
Sunyani East constituency and five other constituencies did not participate in the parliamentary primaries organised by the party on January 27, 2024.
This was as a result of a court injunction on the primary in Sunyani East.
