General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Fifi Kwetey has described Vice President Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia as lacking credibility.
This character flaw, the party asserts, poses a challenge to the NPP flagbearer's bid to win the 2024 general election.
Mr Kwetey made these remarks during a press conference held at the NDC head office in Accra on Wednesday, February 14, 2024.
"And we all know the critical value of trustworthiness in life and in leadership in particular. A few rhetorical questions will suffice. How can you be trusted when you proclaim yourself as the leader of a Solid Economic Management Team and yet land the economy in the total collapse we see today?" he quizzed.
Addressing the press, Mr Kwetey recounted the 2012 elections when the then-running mate Dr Bawumia told the NDC that "when the fundamentals are weak, the exchange rate will expose you."
"Only to turn around in 2019 when the currency was fast depreciating that you made that statement rather in 2014 when the fundamentals were weak when the records show that you made the statement in 2012 at a time the fundamentals were relatively stronger? the NDC Secretary indicated.
This forms part of the numerous factors espoused by the NDC as reasons Ghanaians should not give the NPP a chance to remain in power in the upcoming polls.
