As part of activities to herald the 24 years after graduating from the Holy Child School, the 2000-year group has launched an endowment fund titled the 'Millenium Maintenance Fund'.
The fund will among other things provide the school with an additional source of funding for infrastructural development.
Holy Child School, an all-female senior high school has over 78 years trained thousands of personalities who have contributed their quota to national development.
The idea by the 2000-year group of the Holy Child Past Students Association (HOPSA), was borne out of the need to provide the school with the needed infrastructure thereby providing quality education leading to the development of the younger generation.
President of the HOPSA 2000-year group, Nana Akua Birmeh said the funds would be used to support the school’s infrastructural challenges and other legacy projects. publication is part of their support to raise funds for the school.
“It is also intended to last generations so that the school can fall on to build and maintain infrastructural projects,” she added.
The endowment fund seeks to raise GHS 3 million and would be sourced from corporate entities, individuals and philanthropists.
Speech Day Committee Chair and member of HOPSA 2000, Akosua Fonwaa Affram told the media that it provides useful lessons to current and prospective students on their aspirations and expectations and the need to give back to their alma mater.
Adding that it serves as a platform to help sustain the reputation and academic prowess of the school.
She urged parents, various alumni and individuals to invest in the venture.
For Antoinette Austin, an old student, attending Holy Child School was an eye-opener to life. She was grateful to the 2000-year group for the excellent work done to lift the image of the school.
The year group seeks to donate stationary and other essential classroom and administrative equipment to the students and teachers of the school.
The school will chalk 79 years since its establishment in 1946 as a mission school.. The 2000-year group will further host the Speech Day next year.
