Bayer Leverkusen forward Victor Boniface says he opted to celebrate like Mohammed Kudus because of the banter between Nigeria and Ghana.
The Super Eagles attacker chose Kudus' iconic advertising board sitting celebration after coming off the bench to score in Leverkusen's UEFA Europa League win over West Ham United last week.
The German side took a first-leg advantage in the quarterfinal tie as they scored two late goals to win 2-0 with Boniface scoring after Jonas Hofmann's opener.
Boniface scored after Kudus had been taken off but that did not stop the Nigerian from mimicking the Black Stars midfielder's celebration.
The forward also went ahead to score over the weekend as Xabi Alonso led the club to their first Bundesliga title in history following a 5-0 win over Werder Bremen.
Speaking to Oma Sports TV, the 23-year-old explained the decision to celebrate like the Ghanaian.
"To be honest I have seen so many comments about it...It was something that just came up, it wasn't planned," said Boniface.
"We [Nigerians] are brothers but we cook each other. It's a normal thing."
Boniface will be hoping to get another one over his Kudus with the pair set to play in the second leg of the Europa League tie on Wednesday.
