Musician Amerado expressed satisfaction with the revisions made by the Telecel Music Awards board to the nominations list after a review of the initially announced list in March 2024.
This review was prompted by concerns about errors or omissions in the list, leading to a comprehensive evaluation process.
Following the review, Amerado gained a nomination in the Most Popular Song of the Year category with his song ‘Kwaku Ananse.’
Additionally, the remix version of Kwaku Ananse was replaced with the original in the Best Highlife Song category.
Reacting to the new changes, Amerado said that it is good to see his song receive the recognition it deserves in one of the award scheme’s major categories stating. "I was pleased."
When asked if he had any other challenges, Amerado said that he wanted to be recognised in the Songwriter of the Year category.
“I thought it should have made the cut, but then it's fine…I'll just keep working harder,” he told Andy Dosty on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM on Tuesday.
Amerado said that when he initially saw he had not been nominated in categories like Most Popular Song, he was conflicted about how to feel.
He noted that he questioned whether he had not worked hard enough in the year under review, his song was not that good or this was a challenge thrown to him to work harder next time
But, “when I went online after the initial nominations were announced, people were all over the place fighting for me. So I was pleased in a way. I've tasted losses throughout my career. I've tasted plenty of wins as well. So I just learned from whatever happens to me and then I move on,” Amerado said.
The rapper said he was thankful his fans came to his defence which also helped in pushing for a review.
This comes after Charterhouse on April 15 confirmed that the TGMA board evaluated all submissions and made corrections to two entries: Lonely Road by O'Kenneth & Xlim Kid and Kwaku Ananse by Amerado.
Regarding "Lonely Road," nominated in the Collaboration of the Year category, Charterhouse clarified that the song was originally submitted as a featured work.
However, the management of both artistes confirmed that "Lonely Road" was a joint project by O'Kenneth and Xlim Kid, not a featured track.
Charterhouse also released the nominees for new categories including for three of the most anticipated categories, namely; Producer of the Year, Best Video Director and Audio Engineer of the Year.
Six producers, including Kuami Eugene and Killbeatz, are battling for the Producer of the Year award, which recognises a producer's hit songs in the year under review.
Also, some of Ghana’s best directors who have worked with artistes like Black Sherif, Stonewboy, Kuami Eugene and others are up for the Best Director Awards.
