Ghana has benefitted immensely from Otumfuo Osei Tutu’s wise counsel, Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has said.
He noted that the King had played a remarkable role in helping to shape democratic rule in the country, adding that his influential role in the sustenance of peace in Ghana, especially, under the Fourth Republic, would forever be remembered.
Dr Bawumia said this at the launch of the Otumfuo commemorative gold coin at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi on December 12, 2021.

“Otumfuo Osei Tutu is a pillar of peace, and an asset, not only to Asanteman, but the entire nation,” Vice President Bawumia asserted.
Monumental achievement
Later, in February 2022, the commemorative gold coin was presented to the Vice President at his office at the Jubilee House
At the event, he noted that when many gave up hope on Dagbon, Otumfuo rose to the task by applying tact and diplomacy to lead the charge to bring peace to the troubled area.
“Leading the Committee of Eminent Chiefs to restore peace to Dagbon after 17 years of chieftaincy conflict is a monumental achievement for which Otumfuo Osei Tutu II deserved to be celebrated,” Vice President Bawumia stated.
He explained that the restoration of peace set Dagbon back on the path of progress.
