The flagbearer of the All People’s Congress (APC), Hassan Ayariga, has called on the government to take urgent measures to address intermittent power supply, commonly known as “dumsor,” which is causing significant hardship for many Ghanaians.
Mr Ayariga emphasised the importance of appointing individuals with successful track records to lead the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) to ensure more effective management and reliable electricity supply.
He suggested that if the government is unable to efficiently and effectively manage the operations of ECG, it should consider privatising the company.
Mr Ayariga added that he is willing to purchase ECG to ensure the delivery of dependable electricity to the people of Ghana.
He insisted that this move is aimed at addressing the growing frustration among Ghanaians over the persistent power outages and the need for decisive action to improve the country's energy sector.
“The power crisis, or dumsor, is a national issue that requires urgent attention and action from the government. We will not sit idle while our country suffers,."
“The All People’s Congress urges the government to put the interests of its citizens first and work towards providing a sustainable and reliable power supply for all. If they can’t manage ECG, I am ready to take over and privatise it,” he said.
