The Ministry of Roads and Highways has commenced emergency repairs on the Atimpoku-Asikuma road following severe damage caused by flooding on Saturday, June 29.
A section of the road near the police barrier collapsed after heavy rainfall leaving travellers and motorists stranded for some time.
In a press statement issued on Sunday, June 30, the Ministry confirmed that the road has been reopened to traffic following swift intervention.

The Ghana Highway Authority conducted an assessment and determined that the 8.2-meter span bridge over the Fodoga River remains structurally sound, allowing for the reopening of the road.
Efforts are now underway to mobilise resources for emergency remedial works on the damaged section.Â
The Ministry is also collaborating with the Ghana Hydrological Authority to enhance river flow management, aiming to mitigate future flood risks.
The Ministry reiterated its commitment to addressing challenges within the national road network.
It called on road users to cooperate and adhere to safety guidelines to ensure the continued improvement of road conditions nationwide.
