The Majority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has been sworn in as the Board Chair of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) on Wednesday, July 17.
Following his inauguration, Afenyo-Markin emphasized the importance of addressing the challenges confronting the power distributor.
His comments came after the outgoing Energy Minister, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, officially swore him in as the new Board Chairman of ECG.

In his acceptance speech, Mr Afenyo-Markin acknowledged the significant improvements the government has made in electricity provision.

However, he stressed that more work is needed to ensure the continued progress and reliability of power distribution in Ghana.

He expressed his dedication to driving thoughtful reforms and innovation within ECG, emphasising the need for strategic changes to overcome existing obstacles and improve the company's efficiency and effectiveness.

After the inauguration, Mr Afenyo-Markin reiterated his points on Facebook, commending the government's efforts in enhancing electricity provision but stressing the necessity of further advancements to meet the growing demands and expectations of the public.
As the new Board Chair of ECG, he is committed to building on the foundation laid by his predecessors, focusing on sustainable improvements and ensuring a stable and reliable electricity supply for all Ghanaians.
