The spokesperson for the Movement for Change, Ebo Buckman, has stated that both the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have failed to provide meaningful development for the benefit of Ghanaians.

He criticised the two major parties for comparing mediocre and below-average performances, which he believes are not what Ghanaians deserve.

Research and data firm Fitch Solutions has predicted that the governing NPP will be defeated by the opposition NDC in the December 7 general elections. According to the London-based firm, which has consistently maintained this forecast since last year, 54 per cent of respondents in their survey favoured NDC's candidate John Mahama to win the upcoming presidential election.

However, Mr Buckman emphasised that Ghanaians should consider alternatives beyond these two political parties.

He noted that the Movement for Change advocates for a government of national unity instead of relying on a single political party, which has historically not been successful.

Speaking on JoyNews ‘The Pulse, Mr Buckman told the host, Elton John Brobbey that “if it is going to be the usual NDC, NPP political football, then NDC, as I said, because the situation has moved from bad to worse, NDC may have an edge over NPP. This election is not going to be an NPP or NDC election anymore. It is going to be a personality context because Mr Alan Kyerematen, Mr Mahama, Alhaji Bawumia, and the rest and so Ghanaians are going to look out for the person, not the party, who can change the fortunes of the country”.

He noted that, unlike Mahama and Dr Bawumia, Mr Alan Kyerematen has presented a concrete plan.

According to Buckman, Mr Kyerematen acknowledges that the economy is in shambles and believes that the usual approach of having a manifesto is not sufficient.

Mr Buckman emphasised that the way forward is to implement an economic plan capable of steering the country's economy to a point where everyone can be satisfied, making this a key distinction.

“So, the Ghanaian should not be misled to the point that if it is not the NDC, it is the NPP."
