The Supply Chain team at Newmont’s operations in Africa garnered three prestigious corporate awards at the recently held 6th Africa Procurement and Supply Chain Awards.
The awards; Procurement & Supply Chain Team of the Year, Excellence in Sustainable Procurement & Supply Chain, and Excellence in Sustainable Procurement & Supply Chain, underscored the company’s leadership and impactful contributions to the field of procurement and supply chain management.
A highlight of Newmont’s performance was the recognition of Collins Barnieh, the Regional Supply Chain Director, as part of the Top 30 Procurement and Supply Chain Leaders in Africa.
Over the years, Newmont has significantly improved its supply chain efficiency by using advanced technology and best practices.
This includes modern inventory management systems, real-time shipment tracking, and predictive analytics to prevent disruptions, ensuring the company stays competitive.
By integrating digital tools, the company enhanced transparency and accountability, making complex operations easier to manage.
With sustainability at the centre of its operations, Newmont sources environmentally friendly materials and ensures ethical labour practices, setting new standards in the industry and proving that sustainable mining is both achievable and profitable.

An example of such an initiative is the recent deployment of the Cat® diesel electric R2900 XE hybrid loader at its Subika Underground mine in Ahafo South. This is in line with Newmont's commitment to achieving zero carbon emissions by 2050.
Valuing equitable and transparent procurement processes, Newmont has continuously maintained strong relationships with suppliers, local communities, and regulatory bodies through regular communication and collaboration, building a network of trusted partners.
The company’s focus on local economic development serves as a model for how responsible corporations can positively impact their host communities.
Also, by prioritising local procurement and capacity building, the company is helping to create a more resilient and self-sufficient local economy.
Newmont’s success at the Africa Procurement and Supply Chain Awards reinforces its status as a leading force in the mining industry.
The company’s proactive approach to fostering local economic development continues to contribute to the sustainable and inclusive growth of its host communities and Ghana as a whole.
By empowering local suppliers, creating jobs, and investing in community development, Newmont is not only securing its own future but also that of the communities it operates in.
