The Effiduase Division of the Ghana Police Service has launched an investigation after a man, believed to be in his 30s, was found electrocuted near an Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) transformer in Suhyen, New Juaben North Municipality.
The National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) and the Ghana Police Service responded swiftly to the scene after receiving distress calls.
Preliminary observations suggest that the man may have been electrocuted while attempting to steal from the transformer.
The body has been transported to St. Joseph's Mortuary for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
Speaking to Adom News, NADMO officer, Kankam Twumasi Daniel, said that “the incident happened on Tuesday morning when NADMO received a call from Suhyen that a young man in his 30s has died near a transformer."
"We called the police and went together and we realised that it is true. The young man is dead.”
He stated that the young man allegedly attempted to steal from the transformer and ended up dying. Mr Kankam said that the body has been sent to Saint Joseph's Mortuary, where pathologists are conducting an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
He also noted that the case is under investigation by the police.
