The Chief of Aburi, Otoobuor Gyan Kwesi II, has urged President Akufo-Addo to leave a legacy of peace by ensuring a peaceful transition of power as he exits the presidency.
He stated that the 2024 elections offer a platform to test the president's democratic credibility, which has been positively highlighted by those close to him.
The chief made these comments during a durbar to swear in Nana Kwamena Ansah as the Chief of Nsawam in the Eastern Region.
"He should ensure there's tranquility and peace as he exits office. He should prove to us that he's a good leader, and loves the country as we also love him. He should exit without any acrimony and tension," he admonished.
During a visit to the northern part of the country, President Akufo-Addo stated that he cannot hand over Ghana to a man he has defeated twice at the polls, a sentiment echoed by his Minister of Agriculture, Dr. Bryan Acheampong, on the party's campaign trail.
However, President Akufo-Addo has since moderated his stance, committing to leaving behind a peaceful and democratic nation after his tenure.
He emphasised that Ghana has a history of conducting peaceful elections and has successfully done so eight times under the Fourth Republic.
