Ghanaian-born, U.S.-based gospel musician Mz Nana, known offstage as Nana Yaa Otchere, has been adjudged the Gospel Artiste of the Year USA at the 2024 Ghana Music Awards-USA.

The prestigious award, held at the Grand Resort Hotel, Mount Laurel, New Jersey, was secured with her soul-stirring single “Oma Ne Nsa So.”

“Oma Ne Nsa So” which translates to He lifts His Mighty Hand and her new spirit-filled single, “Faithful God,” has captured the hearts of gospel music lovers both in Ghana and abroad.

The songs, filled with messages of hope and divine intervention, reflect Mz Nana’s deep-rooted faith and commitment to inspiring others through music.

In her own words, she created “Oma Ne Nsa So”  to remind listeners that “at His own appointed time, God will lift His mighty hand over every difficult situation and grant us eternal peace and victory.”

The accompanying music video for “Oma Ne Nsa So,” shot by Tyron Films, has been gaining traction on YouTube, further cementing her impact in the gospel music scene.

Mz Nana’s journey in gospel music began at a young age in Ghana, where she sang at Sunday schools and youth conventions at the Church of Pentecost with her grandmother.

Her passion for singing and her faith grew as she joined the Kings Chapel Vine Yard in Madina, Accra, where she became an integral part of the praise and worship team.

Even after moving to the United States 21 years ago to join her husband, Dr. Francis Otchere, Mz Nana continued her ministry in music, actively participating in church choirs and praise teams.

Currently, Mz Nana serves as a praise and worship leader at the International Miracle Chapel in Burtonsville, Maryland.

Her dedication to her craft is supported by her husband, who is also the executive producer behind the Otchere’s production. Together, they have crafted a music ministry that continues to inspire and uplift.

As Mz Nana continues to make waves in the gospel music industry, her victory at the recently held Ghana Music Awards-USA is a testament to her hard work, faith, and dedication.
