In a move to empower the youth of his constituency, the Member of Parliament for South Dayi in the Volta Region, Hon. Rockson Nelson Etse Dafeamekpor, has distributed 614 Okada riders' licenses, each valued at GH₵ 1,200/
The support, totalling GH₵ 736,800, forms part of his ongoing efforts to uplift the livelihoods of his constituents, especially those engaged in the Okada business, which has become a significant means of transportation and income generation due to the poor road conditions in the area.

Ghana’s laws still forbid the use of motorbikes for commercial activities, but the practice has become commonplace nationwide due to several factors such as poor roads and traffic congestion in the capital cities.
The licenses were handed out after a massive health walk organized by the National Democratic Congress (NDC), a joint event between the Afadzato South and South Dayi constituencies.

The event, spearheaded by Hon. Frank Afriyie, the NDC Parliamentary Candidate for Afadzato South, and Hon. Dafeamekpor, drew large numbers of participants, marking the official commencement of the campaign in the two constituencies ahead of the December 2024 general elections.
During his address to the media after the walk, Hon. Dafeamekpor stressed the importance of such events, not only for physical fitness but as an opportunity to reorient and engage with the electorate.
He emphasized that the NDC’s vision, as outlined in its manifesto, holds the promise of meaningful development for his constituency, citing ongoing projects as evidence of the party's commitment to improving the lives of the people.

He also urged constituents not to be swayed by opposition propaganda.
Speaking about the Okada initiative, Hon. Dafeamekpor expressed his belief that by facilitating the acquisition of licenses, the Okada business, which many young people rely on due to the constituency’s poor road network, would become safer and more profitable.
Several Okada riders who benefited from the initiative expressed their gratitude, stating that obtaining a license had been a challenge for many due to the associated costs. One rider mentioned, “This license gives me peace of mind. Now I can ride without fear of being arrested.”

Hon. Frank Afriyie, the Parliamentary Candidate for Afadzato South, took the opportunity to address the gathering, promising that he would be an active and vocal representative if elected.
He affirmed his intention to work closely with Hon. Dafeamekpor, emphasizing the shared vision for development in the two constituencies.
Afriyie assured supporters that the health walk sent a clear message to the NDC flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama that Afadzato South and South Dayi constituencies are firmly behind him.
He vowed that not a single vote would go to the opposition in the upcoming elections and that the interests of the people would be zealously protected.
The NDC in South Danyi and Afadzato South is mobilizing to maintain a stronghold in the constituencies, with leaders like Hon. Dafeamekpor and Hon. Afriyie leading the charge.
