A new survey by Global InfoAnalytics has revealed that former President John Dramani Mahama is making notable gains in the lead-up to the 2024 general election.
Mr Mahama is now leading in twelve regions across the country, signaling growing support for his presidential bid.
This marks an improvement from the July poll, where he was leading in eleven regions. The former president has solidified his support in key areas including Greater Accra, Central, Western, Western North, Bono, Bono East, Northern, Savannah, Upper East, Upper West, Oti, and Volta regions.
His campaign has gained momentum in several of these regions, crucial for a victory in the upcoming election.
On the other hand, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party’s flagbearer, continues to hold strong in the Ashanti, Eastern, Ahafo, and North East regions.
These areas have traditionally been strongholds for the NPP, and Dr Bawumia's grip remains firm, though he faces increasing competition from Mr Mahama.
A key shift in the survey results is the Bono region, which was previously a battleground but has now swung in favour of Mr Mahama.
“The Bono region is new in JDM’s column according to the poll, a situation caused by the resurgence of JDM and AKK in the region.
“The ruling party is struggling to achieve its target of 85% in the Ashanti region as Nana Kwame Bediako surges. DMB remains at 66%; JDM 22%; AKK, 4%; NKB, 7% and others, 1%,” portions of the survey read.
Analysts attribute this shift to a resurgence in support for both Mahama and independent candidate Alan Kyerematen, who is also drawing attention in the region.
