The JoySports team celebrated their colleague, Muftawu Nabila Abdulai, for being named the 2024 Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) Sports Journalist of the Year.
The celebration was made even more special when Domino's Pizza representatives surprised Muftawu during the JoySports Game Plan show on Friday afternoon.

"Muftawu [Nabila Abdulai] won the GJA Sports Journalist of the Year award, and we are here to celebrate him," said Rekha Mahunu, a marketing executive from Domino's Pizza. "We’ve brought boxes of pizza, mozz bites, garlic bread, and choco pockets to celebrate him," she added.
Fentuo Tahiru Fentuo, Editor of JoySports, expressed his gratitude to Domino's for their thoughtful gesture.

"We are very proud of Muftawu, and we wanted to show our appreciation in our own small way by bringing the team together for a lunch. We know the value you bring to this desk, and we look forward to even more from you," Fentuo said.

Nathaniel Attoh, Editor and Head of Thought Leadership at JoySports, reminisced about Muftawu’s early days at JoySports: "From the very first day Muftawu walked into this office, I saw the desire in him, and it was a proud moment for me to announce him as Sports Journalist of the Year. Keep doing great things for JoySports and for Ghana."

Fiifi Koomson, General Manager of Joy Brands, also commended Muftawu on his achievement: "Congratulations once again, Muftawu. This award is long overdue and a testament to the teamwork and camaraderie here.
"We have the best sports team in the country, and I’m proud of the success you’ve achieved. I know this award means a lot, and I’m confident you’ll continue to raise the bar."

Overwhelmed by the outpouring of support, Muftawu expressed his gratitude: "It’s an honour to be celebrated by all of you. Words fail me because I’m truly touched by your support. The journey hasn’t always been smooth, but the backing of everyone here has been incredible. Thank you so much."
