Basake Holy Stars will be hoping to secure their first home win in the Ghana Premier League when they host Karela United at the Crosby Awuah Memorial (CAM) Park in Anyinase on Sunday in a matchweek six clash.
The game will be a sort of homecoming for Karela, who were previously based in Anyinase and used CAM Park as their home ground.
After a change in ownership, Karela are now based in Tamale and play their home games at the Aliu Mahama Stadium.
Newly promoted Holy Stars suffered their third consecutive defeat of the season, losing by a goal to Vision FC in their previous outing. This followed their disappointing 2-1 home loss to Medeama SC. Holy Stars have scored just once this campaign while conceding five goals.
Coach Abdulai Gazale’s team will be looking to secure their first victory in front of their fans since gaining promotion to the Ghana top flight.
After a slow start to this campaign with back-to-back defeats against Berekum Chelsea and Asante Kotoko, Karela United are undefeated in their last three matches.
The Pride and Passion lads are coming into this game following a hard-fought stalemate against league holders Samartex at home, which came after their impressive 2-0 victory over struggling Legon Cities on the road.
The two teams are separated by just one point, with Holy Stars sitting fifteenth with four points, while Karela are eleventh with five points.
This will be the first meeting between Holy Stars and Karela in the Ghana Premier League.
Kickoff is scheduled for 3 PM.
