President Akufo-Addo has praised the reconciliation efforts in Dagbon as a blueprint for traditional leadership in Ghana.
Speaking during his visit to the Dagbon palace on Tuesday, October 15, the President highlighted the significance of the peace restored in the region and its implications for the nation's traditional institutions.
During his visit, President Akufo-Addo commended Yaa Naa Abukari Andani II for his successful reign and exemplary leadership.
He acknowledged the Yaa Naa's pivotal role in fostering unity and stability within the Dagbon Kingdom, noting that the reconciliation process serves as a model for other regions facing similar challenges.
The President emphasized that the collaborative efforts demonstrated in Dagbon are a testament to the power of traditional institutions in promoting peace and development.
He urged other traditional leaders to draw inspiration from Dagbon’s achievements and work towards resolving conflicts in their communities.
Yaa Naa Abukari Andani II, the overlord of the Dagbon Kingdom, expressed gratitude for the President's recognition of his leadership.
He reiterated his commitment to maintaining peace and stability in Dagbon and underscored the importance of traditional leadership in the broader context of Ghana's governance.
"The settlement that has seen you preside over the reconciliation of Dagbon and the restoration of the peace and stability of this great kingdom and I want to congratulate you on the success of your reign as Yaa Naa of Dagbon."
"What has happened here in Dagbon is a great example to all the traditional institutions of our country that the people when they work together can get positive results," the President said.
