National Insurance Commission's (NIC) Gabriel Bruce and Juliana Dorlah of Sapholda Ventures emerged winners in the men’s and women’s 100m finals at the JoySports Invitational Tournament, held at the University of Ghana Stadium.

In a thrilling men’s final, Bruce clinched the gold medal with a time of 11.28s, showcasing outstanding athletic prowess at the country’s largest corporate sports event. His colleague, Fobi Boakye, claimed silver, crossing the finish line in 11.80s.

The women’s 100m final saw Juliana Dorlah take the top spot with a time of 13.98s. Gifty Martey from McDan Group earned the silver medal, clocking in at 14.89s.

Although primarily a corporate competition, the times recorded at the University of Ghana Stadium adhere to World Athletics standards, thanks to certified tracks and electronic timing systems.

The use of world-standard starting blocks further elevated the competition's quality, providing athletes with an authentic race experience.

In the men’s 100m, Peeva Beverages’ Alex Assan finished third with a time of 11.09s, while Emmanuel Obrim of Cosa-Bright Company Limited followed closely in fourth at 12.17s.

Cephas Apau from McDan Group secured fifth place with a time of 12.18s.

The women’s third-place race was a tight contest between Sapholda Ventures and Aramex, both known for their excellence in logistics.

Belinda Ntiamoah of Sapholda Ventures narrowly took the bronze with a time of 15.22s, while Aramex’s Matilda Osei finished fourth in 15.66s.

Rejoice Hagah from Peeva Beverages placed fifth, clocking in at 16.04s.

Ghana Athletics President, Bawah Fuseini, attended the event, adding to its prestige as he observed the high-level performances from the stands.

The JoySports Invitational Tournament 2024 drew thousands from corporate organisations across the country, solidifying its status as Ghana’s premier corporate sports event.
