Ghana’s Black Stars will not be at next year’s AFCON in Morroco after a miserable qualifying campaign for the team.
Otto Addo’s side became the team with the unwanted record of ending Ghana’s 20 year consecutive qualifying run after last Friday’s draw against Angola.
Despite the disappointment, Otto Addo is insistent on moving on and turning attention to next year’s World Cup qualifiers.
"I understand that people are disappointed, maybe angry. I was also disappointed, but surely we have to move on now.
“We need to do our best to prepare for the World Cup qualifiers, and it starts tomorrow.
If you [Ghanaians] want us to go to the World Cup, you need to support us,” he said.
Ghana are currently 2nd in Group I of the World Cup qualifying group, level on points with leaders Comoros, with only the group winners set to progress to the knockout phase.
Otto Addo returned Ghana to the global showpiece, qualifying the team to the 2022 edition in Qatar, after Ghana missed out on the 2018 edition.
He will be looking to become the first coach to qualify the Black Stars to consecutive World Cup competitions.
Ghana will face Chad in their next game of the series in March 2025.
