President Akufo-Addo says Ghana needs a firm and decisive leader who can harness the human and material resources to fully exploit technology to drive the country’s transformation agenda and benefit from the fourth industrial revolution.
According to Akufo-Addo, Ghana had already missed the first, second, and third industrial revolutions and could not afford to miss the fourth industrial revolution, which is being driven by technology and digitalisation.
It was therefore important for Ghanaians to elect someone who is not only capable of building on what has been achieved under his administration but also has fresh ideas and a clear understanding of driving digitalization to transform the country’s economy.
Addressing various professional groups in Kumasi as part of his three-day tour of the Ashanti region, President Akufo-Addo pointed out that Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the NPP presidential candidate had what it took to drive the country into the fourth industrial revolution.
The meeting created opportunity for Akufo-Addo to thank members of the various professional associations and groups, for their support throughout his tenure as President of Ghana.
“Bawumia is a man of impeccable integrity. He is not only capable of building on what has been done but also has fresh ideas to transform the country."
"He has a clear understanding of what is needed to be done to drive the country to the fourth industrial revolution,” President Akufo-Addo, told the gathering of people from various professional backgrounds.
President Akufo-Addo pointed out that, though Ghana had had difficulties, which were not the making of the government, the country had made headway and come through to turn the corner.
“We have worked hard to turn the corner, and the economy is growing now. What is needed is for Ghana to get someone who would be able to build and sustain the gains we are making."
"Ghana cannot dare to make a mistake on December 07, and slump back,” he stated.
President Akufo-Addo mentioned the impressive strides in the provision of educational infrastructure, expansion in access, improvement in quality as well as the use of technology to drive educational outputs in the country.
The health sector has also received massive expansion and improvement in access, quality, and affordability.
Again, road networks had been improved across the country while access to justice had been made easier through the establishment of courthouses and accommodation for judges and other judicial staff in all parts of the country.
He said Ghanaians needed to make a consequential decision on December 07, this year, adding that, “Ghana cannot fail to make a decision that will ensure the sustenance of these interventions, which are improving the lives of the average Ghanaian.
The free SHS policy, which had benefitted over 5.7 million Ghanaians needs to be jealously protected,” he stated.
President Akufo-Addo, thanked Ghanaians for giving him the opportunity to serve the country as President and what they could do to honour him was to take a decision that would help protect the various social interventions, which were benefiting many Ghanaians in all parts of the country.
