Former Dreams FC star Abdul Aziz Issah, now plying his trade with Barcelona B in Spain, has been shortlisted for the prestigious CAF Goal of the Year award at the #CAFAwards24.
Issah’s sensational strike for Dreams FC against Angola’s APC Lobito in the CAF Confederation Cup has earned him a place among the top 11 goals from the continent this year.
The shortlist, curated by a CAF Technical Panel, celebrates outstanding goals scored in CAF competitions between January and October 2024, showcasing the immense talent across African football.
Issah’s goals were instrumental in Dreams FC's historic journey to the semi-final of the competition where they lost 3-0 to Zamalek in the second leg at the Baba Yara Stadium.
The youngster's nomination also highlights the journey of a player who has seamlessly transitioned from the Ghana Premier League to one of Europe’s most storied clubs, Barcelona.
Fans have been given the power to influence the outcome of this category, as their votes will account for 70% of the final decision, with CAF Technical Experts contributing the remaining 30%.
Voting is now open on CAF’s official website and social media platforms and will close on Thursday, 12 December 2024.
The winner will be unveiled at the CAF Awards Gala in Marrakech, Morocco, on Monday, 16 December 2024, in what promises to be a night celebrating African football excellence.
