The Ghana Police Service is investigating 88 individuals who were intercepted on two Metro Mass Transit buses at Benchema, near Asawinso, in the Western North Region. The arrest was made on Tuesday, December 3, 2024.
Preliminary investigations by the police revealed that the individuals were allegedly recruited by a man known as "Sammy" from various locations in the Greater Accra Region, including Adenta, Oyarifa, and Madina.
They were reportedly being transported to provide security at polling stations in some constituencies within the Western North Region.

The suspects are currently in police custody and are assisting with the investigation.
Efforts are underway to track down the said Sammy, who is believed to have organized the recruitment, to aid in the ongoing inquiry.
The police have assured the public of their commitment to conducting a thorough investigation into the matter and holding those involved accountable.
