Some unidentified persons alleged to be supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) on Monday morning attacked the head office of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) at Kanda in Accra.
According to a staff member who reported the incident to Joy News, the thugs arrived at the office complex demanding that they vacate the premises.
She said, "The place has been besieged by thugs, and I don’t know where they are coming from. They are harassing everybody."
The individual further claimed, "Every time there is a change in power, officers of NADMO are attacked for no reason," adding, "We came to the office this morning to work, and the whole place is besieged."
The eyewitness stated they had taken cover in one of the offices while making the report.
The individual explained that the thugs were demanding they vacate the office and hand over the keys to the facility.
"I had to go into hiding to call you; they have taken over the frontage of our office, and there are quite a number of them."
Joy News' Collins Frimpong who later visited the NADMO head office reports that a photo of Akufo-Addo and other officials was damaged by the youth in front of the reception area.
He, however, reports that the youth could not gain full access to the main offices to cause further damage.
Some military personnel later arrived at the NADMO office to ensure law and order.
It is common in Ghana to find party supporters taking over public offices usually when there's a change in government after a general election.
