President-elect John Dramani Mahama has pledged to assemble a government that will embody the aspirations and dreams of all Ghanaians, regardless of political affiliation.
He made this declaration during his victory speech at his campaign office after being declared the winner of the 2024 general elections by the Electoral Commission.
Addressing an audience filled with party faithful and supporters, John Mahama expressed his gratitude for the trust placed in him by the Ghanaian people.
"My brothers and sisters, it is with tremendous humility that I accept this clear mandate that you, the good people of Ghana, have given me to lead this great nation as your next president,” he said.
Mr Mahama explained that each vote cast represented the collective hopes and future of the nation.
"Every vote that was cast in this election carried the same weight. Every vote also carried the hope and the future of our country,” he remarked.
Reiterating his commitment to unity, the president-elect promised to form a government that would serve the interests of all citizens, including those who did not vote for him.
"I promise you that I will assemble and lead a government that will carry the weight of those hopes and dreams, whether you voted for me or not, because every victory is a victory for the people, all of the people,” Mr Mahama affirmed.
The Electoral Commission declared Mr Mahama the winner with 56.55% of the vote, defeating his main rival, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia of the New Patriotic Party, who secured 41.61%.
