The African Paralympic Committee (AfPC) has extended its congratulations to Ghana's President-elect, John Dramani Mahama, following his victory in the 2024 presidential elections.
Mahama who represents the National Democratic Congress (NDC), emerged victorious after defeating his main rival, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
The victory marks Mahama’s return to the presidency after his previous tenure ended in 2020.
In a formal statement, the AfPC commended Mahama for his commitment to inclusive leadership and expressed optimism about his future contributions to the development of sports, particularly para-sports, across Ghana and Africa.
"The African Paralympic Committee, the Paralympic Movement and the entire Sports Fraternity across the continent of Africa extend their warm congratulations on your device victory in Ghana Presidential Elections. We in the sports industry have no doubt in your capabilities to lead this great West African nation to the next level of socioeconomic development and prosperity, through your visionary and inclusive transformational policies and programs"
