Head coach of Ghana's U-17 female side, Joe Nana Adarkwa, says the team is all set for their first outing in the West African Football Union (WAFU) Zone B Girls' Cup.

The Black Maidens are set to face Benin on Thursday, December 12, in their opening fixture of the tournament which is happening for the first time.

The tournament also gives Ghana's team a first competitive appearance since their ban for age cheating some three years ago.

Speaking ahead of their group opener, Nana Adarkwa believes his team has had the best of preparations and is poised for the win.

"We have been in camp for about six weeks now and so far preparation is going well and we are ready for the tournament," he told ghanafa.org.

‘’As at now I do not know much about our opponents but when we start the competition, we shall get to see them more. The technical team has everything in place and we are ready for any match and take all points at stake."

The Ampem Darkoa Ladies boss also admits the pressure on the team is inevitable, especially being the host nation.

"There will definitely be pressure on us as host and a lot of people will be expecting us to win. My girls are ready to play and that’s the most important aspect of this tournament for me" he added.

Ghana is in Group A alongside Benin and Burkina Faso with the latter pulling out of the competition.

The tournament will be played at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence with the opening game scheduled for a 15:00 GMT kickoff.
