The Member of Parliament for Effutu constituency in the Central Region and the outgoing Majority leader of Parliament, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has stated that Ghanaians will soon realize the true nature of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
According to him, the NDC won the election and gained a majority in parliament due to what he believed were false promises made to the public.
“People were no longer looking for infrastructure or the important Free SHS policy that all parents were benefiting from. They were looking for bread and butter because the NDC had created the impression that the NPP government had failed them,” Mr Afenyo-Markin stressed.
“I am very optimistic that Ghanaians will soon see the hypocrisy, the double standards, and the mischief. All the things they are trying to do now, with time, we will know who they really are,” he added.
Afenyo-Markin, while speaking on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show on Wednesday, added that following their defeat in the general elections, he continues to advise his camp, the NPP, to exercise patience, as he believes the NDC will not be able to deliver on the promises they made to Ghanaians.
“All I tell my people is to remain calm and take it easy,” he said, adding, “I am not wishing doom on them, but I am telling them the reality, and they know it. Given the high expectations, they have charged the people.”
Despite the NDC’s massive victory in the election, the MP believes that the NDC government, especially their MPs, will struggle to fulfill their mandate.
"If you run a campaign of mischief and propaganda to win it is not a better campaign, it will benefit you today, but tomorrow it will affect you" he emphasized.
