Ghana's Black Galaxies will not participate in next year's Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) after suffering 3-1 defeat at the hands of Nigeria.
The first-leg, which was held in Accra, ended goalless with head coach Didi Dramani describing it as "still an open game".
But three quickfire first-half goals in the space of six minutes from the Super Eagles B team, in the second leg played in Uyo, ended Ghana's hopes of consecutive qualification for the continental event.
Forward Sodiq Ismail raced clear of his markers to open the scoring for the hosts in the 18th minute.
Three minutes later, Nduka Junior pounced on poor clearance by Ghana from a set-piece to double the lead.
It went from bad to worse when Abdulai Nurudeen was dispossessed by Saviour Isaac who dribbled goalkeeper Benjamin Asare and slotted in the third.
Stephen Amankona pulled one back but 17 minutes to regulation time was not enough for the Galaxies to mount a comeback.
Nigeria, who missed out on the last two editions, will now feature in the tournament set to be hosted jointly by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania in February 2025.
