McDan Aviation, a major player in Ghana’s aviation sector, has responded to the recent closure of its Fixed Base Operator (FBO) facility at Kotoka International Airport, appealing for calm, constructive dialogue, and unity.
The company issued an official statement expressing gratitude to the Ga-Dangme youth group for their vocal support during what it described as a “challenging situation.”
Kwaku Ampronfi, CEO of McDan Group, began the statement by commending the Ga-Dangme youth group for their solidarity.
“Your commitment to standing up for our community and advocating for fairness is commendable and deeply appreciated,” the statement said.
McDan Aviation noted that this show of support demonstrates the youth’s commitment to fairness and the progress of their community.
Addressing the ongoing tensions with the Ghana Airport Company Limited (GACL), the company underscored its willingness to work constructively to resolve the issue.
“It is essential that we engage constructively with all stakeholders, including the Ghana Airport Company Limited, to facilitate the successful reopening of our aviation operations,” said Ampronfi.
The company emphasized its long-standing values of transparency and respect for the rule of law.
“Our intention has always been to create opportunities for growth and development, not only for our company but for our fellow Ghanaians,” the statement added.
McDan Aviation called on all parties to prioritize unity and avoid divisive rhetoric, urging stakeholders to focus on fostering growth.
“It is crucial that we focus on constructive dialogue rather than divisive rhetoric,” Ampronfi stated.
“Together, we can find a way forward that honours the integrity of our businesses and the aspirations of our people.”
The company also appealed to the youth to channel their energy into positive actions that could drive national and community development.
“Let us prioritise unity and collaboration as we seek to overcome these challenges,” the statement concluded.
Despite the setback, McDan Aviation reaffirmed its dedication to contributing to the aviation sector and Ghana’s broader economy.
“Our goal is to ensure that McDan Aviation can continue to contribute positively to the aviation sector and the economy of Ghana,” the company said.
