President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, has tasked the Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, to make sure the country regains its sporting pride.
His comments come after the swearing-in of Kofi Adams and a host of others on Friday, February 7, 2025, at the Jubilee House following approval by Parliament after a thorough vetting process and extensive debates by the Appointments Committee.
Ghana has lost its place on the continent as well as the world as far as sports is concerned and seems to be sinking further.
The recent downhill was the Black Stars' failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) to be staged in Morocco. This follows back-to-back group stage exits in the last two editions.
"The Honourable Kofi Adams, Minister for Sports and Recreation, I don't envy your job," Mahama said.
"You have the monumental task of restoring Ghana to its pride of place in African and world sports."
Adams takes over from Mustapha Ussif, who served as the Sports Minister under the previous government.
