A 20-year-old tricycle (Aboboyaa) rider has been remanded into Police custody by the Asante Abuakwa circuit court in the Atwima Nwabiagya South Municipality, for allegedly, defiling a 13-year-old girl at Pokukrom, near Abuakwa.
Yakubu Mohammed pleaded not guilty and will reappear before the court presided by Mrs Philomina Asiedu, on February 21, this year.
Police Chief Inspector Joseph Nyame prosecuting told the court that, the complainant, Emmanuel Appiah was the uncle of the victim, who had been taking care of her since she stopped schooling at the Abuakwa R/C basic school due to a health condition.
He said that on January 22, this year, at about 1830 hours, the complainant sent the victim to buy baby diapers from a nearby shop, but she kept long and returned traumatized.
The complainant asked about what had happened to her.
The victim answered to her uncle that, the accused person picked her in his tricycle, sent her to his room, laid a mat on the floor, undressed her, fingered her, had sex with her, and returned her to a nearby junction.
With this information, a report was made to the Abuakwa police, and the accused was arrested.
In his cautionary statement, he denied it and told the police that he only picked the victim to the shop and left, but she unexpectedly, followed him into his room but nothing happened between them.
Chief Inspector Nyame however, said after further investigations the police found a case against him, and therefore, charged and brought him before the court
