President John Mahama will deliver his first State of the Nation Address (SONA) today, Thursday, February 27, since assuming office for a second term.
The highly anticipated address is expected to set the tone for his administration’s professed ambitious “Resetting Ghana” agenda, aimed at reviving the economy, creating jobs, and restoring stability.
With Ghana grappling with economic distress, rising inflation, and high unemployment, Mahama’s address is expected to reassure citizens and outline clear solutions.
His 24-hour economy policy, a cornerstone of his economic strategy, is expected to take centre stage as a game-changing initiative to drive industrial growth, boost productivity, and create sustainable employment opportunities.
Key stakeholders, including the Trades Union Congress (TUC), business leaders, and civil society groups, have already placed demands on the government to present concrete measures to tackle the soaring cost of living, wage disparities, and infrastructure challenges.
Mahama’s Resetting Ghana agenda focuses on economic transformation, governance reforms, and social development, setting the stage for policy overhauls in critical sectors such as energy, manufacturing, agriculture, and technology.
As he addresses parliament and the nation, political analysts predict the speech will spark intense debate, with both the business community and opposition parties keenly assessing his proposals.
With the country at an economic crossroads, Ghanaians will be watching closely to see how Mahama plans to steer the nation toward recovery and growth.
