A Senior Lecturer at the University of Ghana Business School, Dr. Jabir Mohammed, has shared his expectations for the forthcoming State of the Nation Address(SONA).
Speaking on the Joy News AM Show, Dr. Mohammed emphasised the importance of the State of the Nation Address, describing it as a crucial event, noting that every president in the Fourth Republic has delivered this significant programme in Ghana's history.
He said , this will serve as an opportunity for the president to provide an honest, transparent, and comprehensive overview of the country’s current challenges and achievements.
Dr. Mohammed particularly highlighted the economy as a key issue that must be addressed. He stated, "The president should be in the best position to present the true state of the country , particularly with regard to the current economic situation and the plans for moving forward."
He further expressed his hope that the president Mahama would outline clear, actionable steps to improve the country’s economic landscape, stressing that addressing these issues is essential for the nation's growth.
"We need to focus on putting the right measures in place to ensure that, by the end of the day, Ghana is in a better position," he added.
Dr. Mohammed also stressed that the State of the Nation Address should not only reflect the nation’s current challenges but also offer practical solutions that will guide the country toward progress and stability.
"I expect that this address will put in measures in place ,to ensure that we have a solid and a sound economy". he concluded.
