President John Mahama has reiterated his commitment to ensuring that individuals living with disabilities receive free tertiary education.
Delivering an address on the state of the nation in Parliament on Thursday, he stated, "The no-fee policy will also cover all Persons with Disabilities (PWDs)."
He emphasised, "Persons with disabilities will pay no fees for tertiary education throughout their studies."
Under the National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration's no-fees policy, the government will cover admission fees for all students who gain admission to public universities in the country.
While other students will pay their tuition fees after the government covers the admission fees, the president confirmed that PWDs will not be required to pay any fees throughout their studies.
During the 2024 campaign season, Mr Mahama and the NDC engaged with PWDs across the country to discuss the manifesto proposals, which focus on increasing opportunities for PWDs.
