Former Deputy Finance Minister, Dr. Stephen Amoah, has called on Kwame Baffoe, the Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), popularly known as Abronye DC, to apologise to President John Mahama if he acknowledges that his previous statements were incorrect.
"Abronye's statement about the president, in my opinion, he knows where his information comes from. If I were the president, I would let the due process unfold," Dr. Amoah said, adding a call for Abronye DC to apologise. "If Abronye knows he made one of the flimsy statements that tarnished the image of our president, he should come forward and apologise. I think it is very important."
Dr. Amoah’s comments came after Abronye DC was invited by the National Investigations Bureau (NIB) to appear before it on 26th February 2025.
The invitation followed an allegation Abronye made against President John Mahama, claiming that he had hoarded GHC550 million that was meant to be paid to dismissed appointees at the Jubilee House.

Speaking on JoyNews' Newsfile on Saturday, 1st March, Dr. Amoah emphasised that statements like these should not be ignored, as they can have a significant impact on the reputation of individuals, particularly politicians.
“We live in this country, and people say a whole lot of things about Stephen, Felix, Samson, and anyone, and they go scot-free,” Dr. Amoah explained.
“It shapes public opinion, and people start to believe you are a thief, which causes them to hate politicians. But it’s important to note that not every politician is corrupt,” he added.
Abronye DC appeared before the NIB on 26th February 2025, where he responded to the allegations he made against the president.
